Our Review – Photo Gallery
After spending months in the Arizona heat, we were ready for a break. We had talked with our friends about various boondocking spots at higher elevations in the area. When researching on Campendium, we came across Uinta Flats and saw it was at 10,000 feet – Sold!
The next day, we pack up and headed up the 8% grade to find Duck Creek Village. It was a small town about 10 minutes away from our site. When we got to the disperse camping area, you can go left or right. Are you feeling lucky? We decided to check out the left side. We drove about 1/2 a mile where we found an opening large enough that it could fit several big rigs. Thankfully, we were able to convince our friends to join us on the weekend! Camping is always more fun with friends. The area did get noisy on the weekends with a lot of UTV traffic, but during the week it was very peaceful.
If you enjoy exploring, then this is an excellent spot! There is plenty of wooded area to get to see something new around every turn. There was a steep ravine by our spot which lead down to an amazing big flat area. We were there in summer, so the creek bed was dry. Perhaps during spring time it would be full and a nice spot to get refreshed.
Did you catch our featured article in Rootless Living Magazine about this boondocking spot?
But did She LIKE it?
Yes, relaxing in the hammock under the trees snuggling baby Isaiah was delightful. The air was crisp and refreshing. One drawback – the dirt was powdery, and completely covered the RV (inside and out) but everyone’s happiness during our time there was worth the added hassle of cleaning up after it.
But did He LIKE it?
Yes! There was plenty of room to explore with Autumn and Keahi. We would go on a hike at least once a day. Around our camp site, there was a lot of dead wood & pine needles to be able to have a fire. We were lucky enough to have a fire nightly!
Activities we enjoyed outside the park:
Dinner out at Hot Mama’s Pizza & Brew
