This was definitely the most boujee RV park we have stayed at. It was well manicured, had two pools, plenty of weekly activities (including wine night), and a massive dog park. In addition to the outdoor playground, it had a designated (air conditioned) room inside where the kids could play and do artwork. The pool was our happy place and a much needed escape from the summer heat. We stayed at this RV Resort for over two months, over a month before Isaiah was born and a month after. We were fortunate enough to get a premium site with a grass yard and privacy hedge which was really helpful with Keahi and Autumn. There was daily trash and recycling service, so as long as we put it out by the road they would haul it away to the dumpsters for us.
It was definitely HOT during our stay, both of our AC units were on 24-7 to help combat the 115° days. During those days, the coolest we could make it was 85º inside. Some of the activities we really enjoyed included: a water-play day with splash pads, slip-n-slides, and water slide bounce houses; Wine night; pancake breakfast; dance exercise; coffee and doughnuts, ice cream social and remote control race car race. There were a lot of other children’s activities which sounded very fun but they normally took place when Keahi was napping so we did not get a chance to participate. In addition to all of the other amenities, there was also a lovely nature pond where we could go to sit and watch turtles.
But did She LIKE it?
Absolutely. Being in Southern Arizona in June while 9 months pregnant is less than recommendable, but if you have to do it, the Tucson KOA definitely helps make it bearable. The paved and mostly flat roads made going for frequent walks easy. The pools, playground and indoor play area made it possible for me to keep watching Keahi up until Isaiah’s arrival with some level of comfort.
But did He LIKE it?
Yes, even though we were there in the heat of the summer the resort definitely made up for it. Between the kid activities, centralized location, and friendly staff; this place is a definite must if you find yourself wanting to stay in the Tucson area for any amount of time. The ONLY big downside was hearing nearby gunshots from time to time. Currently, crime is on the rise in Tucson and the KOA is not on the “nice side” of town. However, the resort is safe and I didn’t hear of any incidents while staying there.
Activities we enjoyed outside the park:
Dinner out at Pub 1922, Tubac Jacks, Longhorn Grill, – If you eat at Pub 1922, the bbq pulled pork mac-n-cheese is incredible.
Wild Katz – This indoor playground was such a fun way for Keahi to get some of his energy out during a couple of the 115° days.
Safari Park in Sahuarita – cute walking trail with animal statues.
Reid Park and Reid Park Zoo – both definitely worth checking out! Keahi loved chasing the ducks.
Coby’s Dog House – We were able to board Autumn during labor with Isaiah and for a couple days after his arrival. Loren was very flexible with us and made sure that no matter when Gesen went into labor, he would have room to take in Autumn. She seemed to have a really fun time in his care, he even sent us pictures of her playing with the other dogs and relaxing on the couch.
