Our Review – Photo Gallery

We loved the beautiful lake views with lots of birds, turtles, and other fun wildlife. Our campsite was near a beaver dam and it was fun to get to see the beaver on occasion. The pool closest to our campsite was large and had a kiddy pool adjacent. Both boys had so much fun playing in the water, catching frogs and even a baby turtle! The farther away activity center had a pool table, basketball arcade game, and mini ping pong table. The campground had an incredible blend of RV park amenities and nature filled camping! We were fortunate to snag a huge site with a great view of the lake and very friendly neighbors. Unfortunately, there were a ton of fire ants at our site and all over the campground. We were constantly on the lookout for snakes, ticks and poison ivy which kept us feeling on edge. There was certainly a lot to be grateful for during our time at this campground, but after two weeks we were very ready to move on, the third week ants started invading our RV and there were intense thunder/lightning/hail storms. Normally we love to watch lightning storms, but these were a bit too close for comfort, especially after meeting a couple whose RV had been struck by lightning recently while parked there.

But did She LIKE it?

It was a beautiful park with lots of positive elements, but overall I felt stressed out having to watch the boys like a hawk whenever we were outside. The yard was full of ants, the lake was full of snakes, the woods and tall grass were full of ticks and poison ivy. The playground had lots of easily accessible equipment that Keahi loved to take out, which meant that I was constantly trying to teach him to treat the equipment with respect and helping him put it away. For older children who wear shoes, know how to fish, and are respectful to borrowed equipment, this park would be paradise. For young children who have a hard time staying out of the ant hills, water and tall grass, prepare to be stressed out or cooped up inside. The kiddy pool was such a relief, and definitely one of our favorite and least stressful activities. We tried to go every day so long as the weather was cooperating. The boys had an absolute blast chasing and catching the tiny frogs that would hang out on the side of the pool and watching them swim away in the water. With the fuel prices as high as they were, I felt a little trapped by the remoteness of this park, the nearest farmers market, Walmart, & amazon hub were all around 30 minutes away and Costco was almost an hour drive which was a bummer.

But did He LIKE it?

Does anyone enjoy getting corrected? Honest answer, no, nobody likes it. During sunset, I was out walking Autumn and nobody was around for as far as I could see. Therefore I let Autumn off leash (I know…) to go run. Within a couple minutes, a ranger comes up from our of nowhere behind me and tells me I have to put her on the leash. I get it, it’s a rule…but if you are going to request to have me put my dog on a leash with nobody around at least put a dog park on site. C’mon!

Then when upgrading our steps to the Torklift Glow Step Revolution, I was cleaning up my tools and putting stuff away. I had the old MOR/ryde steps leaning on a tree to keep them out of the way before loading it in the truck. The ranger came driving through checking on sites and stopped at ours. I waved and was friendly, which was greeted with a “you need to remove your steps from touching the tree.” To which I replied, “I’m just cleaning up my project and will load it in the truck once I’m done.” Which prompted the ranger to say, “I’ll wait.” Really? I told you I would do what I said and you are going to wait to ensure that I remove a leaning set of stairs that isn’t hurting the tree. I just don’t get it.

Activities we enjoyed outside the park:

Dinner at Chalo Y Lalos Authentic Mexican Restaurant – Try their homemade Tamales, they were delicious.

Downtown Canton Farmer’s Market – very small, but there was an adorable baby goat.

Steve’s Nursery in Greenville – We got a few plant starts, lets see how long we can keep them alive! Cherry Tomato, Anaheim Pepper, & Basil.

Hunt County Fair – Awesome! We had so much fun in the petting zoo, Watching the Extreme Sports and the mutton busting.
