Our Review – Photo Gallery

Our main reason for staying at Little Bennett Campground was the proximity to some of Matt’s family that we wanted to visit. This is definitely a woodsy experience with tall trees and nature trails. Our campsite was pretty rustic, the gravel pad was very unlevel and our rig almost did not fit. There was a small gravel path down to our designated picnic table and firepit. While we loved the shade and greenery, we were not fond of the poison ivy running rampant and the incessant swarms of gnats. The tall trees interfered with our Starlink, so we were grateful that both of our cell phones had decent service for Matt to keep working during our stay.

There was a huge playground within walking distance from our site which was great for Gesen and the boys. It appeared to be fairly new and had several options for climbing and sliding. The boys always enjoy their time on swings, so it was nice that there were two bucket swings and the boys didn’t have to take turns. This playground even had a four seater teeter-totter so we could ride together!

The campground also had a jumping pillow, it was a good distance from our site so we were grateful for the Croozer to haul the boys and our waters. The boys had a lot of fun bouncing and being bounced and of course they equally loved playing in the sand around the perimeter. It was a little bit frustrating that there was no hours of operation posted, so it was a gamble to walk there and have it be open or closed.

Thankfully the boys are quite content playing in the grass and there was much less poison ivy to worry about in the maintained play areas so although it was a long and rather disappointing walk when the jumping pillow was closed, we stayed and played a while before making the long trek home.

We took a trip with Matts family to Delaware for a few nights and got to enjoy some time at the beach, the boys always love to play in the sand. It was a bit hectic to put our RV in storage for such a short trip but we will save that story for another day.

But did She LIKE it?

Overall the campground is okay. I loved taking the boys to the playground and the jumping pillow. I had a really hard time letting the boys play outside at our campsite because of all the poison ivy. It was hot and buggy during our stay which added to my disinterest in spending lots of time outdoors which is always hard for the boys, they would spend all day outside if I let them. It is hard to spend $$ on a campground we don’t love, but there are very limited options in Maryland and proximity to family was our main concern.

But did He LIKE it?

Yes, there were miles of trails to take Keahi out on the bike and run Autumn. This campground is also Passport America discounted, so if you want to explore the D.C. area and not pay an arm and a leg, then this is the spot for you. The sites are on the smaller side and nestled in the forest, but I enjoyed the feeling as I grew up surrounded by trees. The vast amount of trees provides the feeling of seclusion even from the neighboring campsite. The trees did also make it difficult for Starlink, but other than a small amount of interruptions it was good.

Activities we enjoyed outside the park:

Dinner out at Señor Tequilas – Keahi loved the metal Mariachi men at the entrance. The service was exceptional and the food was great. (We arrived after a very long travel day and the boys were EXTRA, our nerves were fried but the staff was quick to get us anything we needed to try and help make the dining experience as bearable as possible).
Grocery shopping at MOM’s Organic Market – Great option for healthy shopping without having to read every label. We also love that they highlight local meats, dairy and produce.
Playground at Rock Creek Regional Park – This playground was awesome! It had a zipline swing, a tall tower of slides and ladders, and a giant spiderweb rope climb. We had a great time playing and climbing around before sitting by the lake for a picnic lunch.
