Our Review – Photo Gallery
We chose to stay at the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday because it was the closest RV park to visit Matt’s family in Annapolis. During the peak season there is a two week maximum stay limit which was a bummer because we would have loved to spend more time in the area. We had a decent site close to the entrance and the playground which was convenient. In addition to the playground there was a jumping pillow and several other fun games including lawn chess and ping pong. There were wrist bands to use the pool which we never ended up using. They did not allow for swim diapers and since our one year old is not yet potty trained, we could not go swimming there. Thankfully they did offer to set up sprinklers upon request which Keahi had a lot of fun running around in. The dog park was fairly small so we preferred to take Autumn elsewhere for her exercise.
Our small potted garden was looking really sad, most of the plants were either dead or very close to it. Someone, we still have no idea who, was kind enough to leave two beautiful ripe tomatoes on the picnic table next to our very sad tomato plant which was clearly not producing. We were quite surprised since we had the blinds open and should definitely have seen someone placing them there, but somehow they were stealth enough that we missed them. We chose to see it as a kind gesture instead of a creepy one and definitely enjoyed the tomatoes (after thoroughly washing them of course).
But did She LIKE it?
I enjoyed the time we spent at the RV park even though it was minimal. The boys had room to explore between the playground, jumping pillow and other lawn games. At least one staff member was exceptional – there was one morning I took the boys to the playground, exhausted and running on fumes, I asked a worker if there was coffee in the store and she offered to bring me a cup!
Since we started dating, Matt has been telling me about an amazing “corn roast” he used to go to every summer in the private community where he grew up. He has always wanted to take me to it and we finally made a point to make it a part of our travel plans. It did not disappoint! How fun to see canoes filled with corn soaking, a long brick firepit filled with corn being roasted, and rows of tables piled high with roasted corn ready to be eaten! We all had a blast and it was great to be able to share in such a nostalgic festivity with Matt and his family.
But did He LIKE it?
The park was okay. There weren’t very many trails to take Autumn on, so I ended up taking her on bike rides out of the park. The park was pretty close to my family which was ideal, since we spend nearly every day there. Even though we didn’t spend much time here, it was nice, clean and had friendly staff. We ended up checking out a little later than ideal, but didn’t get complaints or feel like the staff was trying to rush us.
Activities we enjoyed outside the park:
We spent most of our time visiting Matt’s family and enjoyed the summer festivities and amenities in the private community where they live. The boys attended their first dance and had fun running around popping balloons with the other children. We spent a lot of time at the pool and going on golf cart rides watching birds and butterflies. Keahi’s swimming skills really started to take off – he began consistently holding his breath under water for 4-6 seconds!
We always enjoy going to the Pennsylvania Dutch Farmer’s Market aka “Amish Market” and getting the stuffed pretzels called “logs” – if you’ve never been to an Amish Market you should definitely stop by next time you’re near one, it is an experience.
Some family favorite restaurants in the area include:
Rams Head Roadhouse We really enjoy their crabby tots and/or crab dip with veggies.
Eggcellence
Grapes Wine Bar
Sofi’s Crepes
Bakers & Co This is a bakery, not a sit down place but their cherry tarts are amazing.
